Alfonso Cuarón e J. J. Abrams annunciano la prima serie di nomination. Prima serie, perché per la prima volta nella storia, tutte le 22 nomination vengono annunciate una di seguito all’altra. Seguono Chris Pine e Cheryl Boone Isaacs, lasciando così alla presidentessa dell’Academy la presentazione, come sempre, delle nomination top. In una sala gremita che ascolta in religioso silenzio ogni nomination, s’è applaudito solo per qualche titolo della prima serie. La seconda serie riguarda sicuramente le nomination più importanti, e una in particolare stupisce un po’: quella di Marion Cotillard per Due giorni, una notte (Deux jours, une nuit), che ha collezionato sino a oggi solamente il premio European Film Awards per la miglior attrice. Parallelamente, la mancanza di Amy Adams, vincitrice del Golden Globe per Big Eyes, cade come un pesante macigno.
